Goat #2 has conjunctivitis (Merry Christmas, right?) so getting her to sleep last night was almost impossible, what with the eye rubbing and the non-stop “I’m GOOPY!” She finally settled in her own bed for good about 3:30 this morning. Goat #1 was up at 4:12. (more…)

So the Christmas Cantata was last night. Goat #1 was “Chicken #1″ in the 1st grade play. I can honestly say, 100% objectively, that he was THE. BEST. “Chicken #1″ in the history of holiday pageantry. (I can only imagine how great he’d have been if he’d played a goat. Alas, there were no goats in this tale of the Christ child’s birthplace. Horses, yes. Cows, yes. Goats, no. [Which, if you think about it, is crazy. Hellooooooo? Bethlehem? WAY more goats than cows.]) (Also, is anyone else thinking of “Love, Actually” now? I hope he gets to be “Lobster #2″ next year.) So.
I went to trim about an inch off of the ends of Goat #2’s hair. You know, cut 4 minutes of disentanglement from our nightly ritual and have all that extra time to myself, right?
And.
She jerked her head just as I was making the first cut.
