Yesterday, the Maine House voted 89-57 to allow same sex couples to marry.
Today, the Maine Senate passed — by a vote of 21-13 — to allow same sex couples to marry.
Today (yep, the same day!) Maine Governor John Baldacci signed the bill to allow same sex couples to marry.
Maine: The Way Life Should Be. INDEED.*
——————————–
*You people have no idea how hard it was not to just post “The way life should be, bitches! The way life should be!” You’ll notice I also refrained from “Live Free or Die, bitches! Live free or Die!” when Vermont passed.**
**Well, not really, seeing how I pointed it out and all. What. I think it’s hysterical.***
***Which probably explains where Goat #2 gets her tendency to repeat something funny until it’s no longer funny at. all. and you want to pull your hair out.****
****If New Hampshire passes their bill as well, and I start cackling madly about “Susan Chicken” y’all are just going to have to ask Cynical Nymph what that’s about.

I wish California had a cool state motto like “Live Free or Die.” But no. If we ever manage to pass a gay marriage bill I’ll have to just make do with, “Eureka! I have found it, bitches!”
Comment by blissfully caffeinated 6 May 2009 @ 8:58 pmActually, New Hampshire is the “Live Free or Die” state. Vermont is the “Here, Have Some More Dairy Products” state.
New England is on a roll, eh? Damn Yankees.
Comment by aliasmother 7 May 2009 @ 11:23 amI was waiting to read how you’d work gay marriage and “vacationland” [the Maine license plate verbiage] together. I guess “vacationland” is better-suited to bisexuality.
Comment by wpofd 12 May 2009 @ 9:16 pmAnd people wonder why I love living in Maine!
It is INDEED the way life should be.
OK…well except for the winter time and all that snow and shoveling of said snow. Well, alright, if I’m being honest, it’s the husband who does all the shoveling. Alright already, we have a snowblower.
Like I said, Maine…the way life should be.
Comment by Auds at Barking Mad 14 May 2009 @ 4:25 pmI like “the way life should be, bitches!” myself.
PS – I suck. You know why.
Comment by Tranny Head 19 May 2009 @ 8:43 pmThis is what happens when the ISU daily’s finals edition is published on the 4th and something important happens on the 6th, I don’t hear about it until I read your blog on the 22nd! Great news =)!
