Waltz In Exile

Wouldn’t you know it. I write an entire post pointing all of you to my fantastic fabulous secret word source site…and today’s word? LICKETY-SPLIT. Great. There’s a grandma word if I ever saw one. Not that grandmas aren’t great. Mine were both amazing. And my paternal grandma, though prone to using words like “lickety-split” and “davenport” (NOT just a city in Iowa!) and “dadgummit” (personal fave), had an amazing vocabulary. She regularly kicked my butt at Scrabble. Granted, I was 9. But still.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes. Complaining/apologizing about the mot du jour. Not the best one ever. I have to say, though, that I still learned something from the notes and the word history. Plus, “lickety-smash” is totally joining the house vocabulary. It’s a goat thing.
